Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about participating in the 50 Over 50 campaign. Complete transparency, zero fine print, and absolute peace of mind.
Why is this portrait session commission-free? Is there a hidden catch? +
There is absolutely zero catch or hidden cost. This campaign is commission-free because your portraits (with your consent, at whichever privacy tier you choose) help build the landmark 2030 Gala Exhibition and art book celebrating 50 women over 50. Building that monumental archival collection is the artist's goal—not a retail sales funnel. You will never be subjected to high-pressure sales presentations, nor will you ever be required to buy prints, frames, or albums. Every participant receives the full 2.5-hour photoshoot and complete high-resolution digital image collection (30–45 color-graded frames plus 1–2 master retouches) completely complimentary.
Can I bring a chaperone, friend, or family member with me to the studio? +
Yes, 100%! We actively encourage it! This portrait session is an unapologetic, joyful celebration of who you are—never something to hide away or feel ashamed of. Many of our participating ladies bring their best friend, sister, or adult daughter to share a glass of champagne, play their favorite music, and celebrate every minute of their transformation. Having someone you love on-set makes the experience even more relaxing, memorable, and fun.
Do I have to do boudoir or lingerie looks? +
Absolutely not! Boudoir or lingerie is 100% voluntary. You have complete freedom to choose any three looks from our comprehensive wardrobe guide—including tailored power suits, glamorous evening gowns, cozy cashmere knitwear, flowing silks, or timeless denim and a white shirt. If you do choose intimate styling, our Tiered Consent System allows you to select Tier 4 (100% strictly private), ensuring your portraits never leave your personal digital collection.
I don't consider myself 'photogenic' and I feel self-conscious. Can I still apply? +
You are precisely who this project was built for! Almost every woman we photograph arrives feeling nervous or convinced they take terrible photos. You do not need any modeling experience, nor do you need to know how to pose. Gary directs every subtle breath, chin angle, and gesture with quiet reassurance. Our directional lighting and portrait lenses are tailored specifically to sculpt and flatter mature features.
Do I need to purchase expensive new clothes for the photoshoot? +
Not at all. We encourage you to 'shop your own wardrobe.' Most women already own extraordinary pieces that photograph magnificently: a well-cut blazer, a favorite evening dress, cozy cashmere sweaters, or crisp white shirts. Our Client Preparation Guide provides full color-theory advice and styling tips.
Where is the photography studio located? +
Sessions take place at the private Gary Wallage Photography studio at 63 Twinham Road, Swindon SN25 2AG, Wiltshire. We are easily accessible from the M4 corridor, Oxford, Bath, Bristol, Reading, and throughout the Cotswolds. Free private driveway parking is provided on-site.
When do the photoshoots take place? +
To ensure an unhurried, serene experience with zero rush, sessions are held on select bi-monthly Batch Saturdays. There are only two sessions scheduled per shoot day: Morning Slot A (10:00 AM – 12:30 PM) and Afternoon Slot B (1:30 PM – 4:00 PM).
How will my photographs be delivered, and how long does it take? +
Within 7–10 days following your session, you will receive a secure access link to your private digital delivery portal. From there, you can view your gallery and download the complete set of 30–45 color-graded digital portraits and master retouches directly as a high-resolution ZIP file with full personal printing rights.
How do you handle privacy and model releases? +
We operate a strict 4-tier consent model. You retain total sovereignty over where and how your images are used: Tier 1 (Full Exhibition & Socials), Tier 2 (Headshots & Classic Portraits Only), Tier 3 (Anonymous Storytelling with no facial identifiers), or Tier 4 (100% Strictly Private — images remain entirely within your private collection and are never published anywhere).
What happens when the 50 slots are filled? +
The 50 Over 50 Project operates on a strict hard cap of 50 completed portrait sessions. Once all 50 sessions have been completed or when we reach 8 February 2030, this campaign closes permanently. Selected portraits from consenting participants will be featured in the commemorative 2030 Gala Exhibition and Art Book.
